Our Fantastic 2024 Jury 🌟🌟🌟



Gunnar Theodór Eggertsson is a fantasy writer and film theorist. He writes horror and adventure stories for children, teenagers, and adults. He was a film critic for the Rás 1 radio station and worked for festivals such as the Reykjavík International Film Festival, programming midnight screenings among other things. Gunnar graduated with an MA in Film Theory from the University of Amsterdam where he wrote his thesis on excessive horror films and animal abuse. He has recently published the Furðufjall trilogy of books for children, the horror novel Vatnið Brennur for adults, and written for the upcoming Icelandic video game Island of Winds. Currently, he’s working on the film adaptation of his fantasy novel, Drauga-Dísa.


Helena Stefáns Magneudóttir got her training in acting and directing in Paris, France, and her MFA in video art in Gothenburg, Sweden. She also has a BA in philosophy and French literature and has attended several seminars in film directing. Helena has a background in dancing which is the foundation of her development into an experimental film director who likes to explore human behavior in connection with visual style and movement in space. 

Helena has run her own independent film production company, Wonderland Films, since 2003. Alongside making feature films, shorts, and documentaries, she has worked as a freelance video artist in Iceland and abroad, making videos for all the biggest theaters in Reykjavík, the opera, and the smaller independent theatre companies. Furthermore, she has exhibited her video art pieces in art galleries.


Bragi Þór Hinriksson is an Icelandic film director. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades for his remarkable contributions to the art of filmmaking. His films often delve into deeply human stories, exploring themes of identity, connection, and the intricate relationships between individuals. With a unique eye for capturing the essence of a story through striking visuals, he has carved a niche for himself in the world of cinema. Bragi has garnered critical acclaim and industry recognition, including multiple Icelandic Academy Awards (Edda). He is currently working on the psychological Thriller "Disturbed," based on a successful novel, and his fantasy feature film "Vera & the Third Stone", rooted from the ancient world of Icelandic Folklore, is aimed for production in the summer of 2025.
